Solar photovoltaics (PV) capture the sun’s energy using photovoltaic cells and convert the sunlight into electricity, which can then be used to run appliances and power lighting. Solar systems using this technology are termed renewable energy systems.
Solar PV panels require only daylight, not necessarily sunlight, and are therefore capable of generating electricity even on cloudy days. Solar PV panels can be installed on a roof of a home or building that can support the equipment in order to maximise the amount of exposure to daylight and can easily be connected to a building’s electricity supply.
The generated electricity from the PV panels installed can be used by the owner to power their home. Where there is a surplus of power, this can be sold back to the UK Electricity Generating Grid as part of the Government’s Feed-In Tariff. To qualify your property must also have a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) of Band D or better. Please view more information on the Feed In Tariff and EPC.
Take a look at some of the renewable energy systems we have already completed in Fareham, Portsmouth, Isle of Wight, Petersfield, Hampshire, Chichester and Sussex.
